The Database Administrator will provide support in database capacity planning, installation, configuration, design, migration, performance monitoring, security, and troubleshooting, as well as backup and data recovery.

Responsibilities
- Monitors, troubleshoots and optimizes database performance
- Identifies and manages database bottlenecks
- Create, maintain and run scripts based on requirements
- Respond to incidents and problems
- Administers patches according to Vulnerability Management Standards
- Perform database backups and recovery
- Performs database capacity planning
- Tests and analyzes database performance
- Creates database installations on servers
- Oversees database operations
- Designs and implements database software, maintenance and support requirements
- Designs and develops interoperability testing of many component products
- Creates and maintains solution documentation
- Ensures consistent use of integration of application middleware components and database architecture
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Post secondary certificate, diploma or degree in computer science or related field. A suitable combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience creating and administrating complex databases in an enterprise environment.
- Significant work experience in the technology field as a Database Administrator.
- Strong technical proficiency, troubleshooting skills and operational knowledge of hosting technology in a corporate data center environment
- Extensive experience and operational knowledge of hosting technology in a corporate data centre environment.
- Experience with RDBMS performance monitoring and tuning: closely monitoring performance; identifying problems and implementing solutions; while ensuring the database is running at optimum speed and efficiency.
- Experience applying tools, techniques and processes related to change management, configuration management, capacity management and availability management.
- Experience working with Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly present complex issues to internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical or problem solving skills.
- Experience working with the following RDBMS’: Microsoft MS SQL Server and Sybase ASE
- Ability to provide data migration support and data migration effort for complex multi-location sites
- Ability to adapt to change in dynamically evolving situations
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Experience with T-SQL and MS RDBMS with experience in DB Triggers, Views and Stored Procedure Programming and database optimization
- Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational and problem solving skills
- Experience with MS SQL server and SAP Sybase ASE
