Aplin is proud to be partnering with a well-established and respected employer in Nova Scotia’s industrial sector to find a highly skilled Shift Manager to join their leadership team. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Port Hawkesbury, supporting a large-scale manufacturing operation. Our client is a leader in their industry and maintains a strong commitment to safety, sustainability, and operational excellence. As Shift Manager, you will report to the Paper Machine Manager and oversee all aspects of mill operations during your shift. This includes responsibility for various departments such as the Paper Machine, Thermal Mechanical Pulp, Woodroom, Woodyard, Effluent, Clay, and Warehouse. You will work a 12-hour shift schedule and play a key leadership role in driving efficiency, safety, and quality across operations.

Responsibilities:
- Primarily work Monday to Friday on day shifts, with majority of time spent in the Paper Machine Department.
- Provide leadership and oversight for the entire mill during night and weekend shifts, including supporting power dispatch communications with Nova Scotia Power.
- Collaborate with internal departments including Maintenance, Shipping, and Scheduling, as well as with suppliers and consultants as needed.
- Champion safety and environmental compliance while ensuring optimal efficiency, product quality, and cost control.
- Lead and support employee training initiatives and safety programs.
- Serve as the leader of the Mill Emergency Response Team.
- Post-secondary education with at least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a fast-paced, unionized industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience in the paper industry is a strong asset.
- Proven ability to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- High energy and a proactive approach to decision-making and performance management.
- Comfortable navigating dynamic, high-paced environments with shifting priorities.
- Proficient with modern computer systems and software tools.
