Aplin is seeking a dedicated and experienced Buyer to join our client’s team in NorthWest Edmonton. This permanent, in-office role is crucial in ensuring the efficient procurement and management of materials and services to support our operations. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills, a customer-focused approach, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Review inventory and open order reports to plan, create, and issue purchase and production orders.
- Analyze inventory demands to ensure cost-effective and efficient planning.
- Maintain reorder plans and determine order points for stock levels.
- Review technical requirements and documentation for purchased products and services, including drawings, material specifications, and Material Test Reports (MTR).
- Collaborate with internal departments to define order parameters and processes for new products.
- Monitor open orders to ensure timely delivery and expedite as needed.
- Work with Inside Sales to align delivery timelines with customer needs.
- Communicate delays to relevant departments to update schedules and customer expectations.
- Maintain accurate records in the ERP system for purchasing, work orders, and inventory.
- Report and address price changes, inventory variances, and material shortages.
- Ensure all purchase orders align with the approved vendors list and obtain necessary approvals for new vendors.
- Participate in physical and cycle inventory counts, investigate inaccuracies, and recommend improvements.
- Actively engage in safety practices and report any concerns or incidents.
- Support and promote the company’s Continuous Improvement culture.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in material planning, procurement, and inventory management, ideally within a manufacturing or service company.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (SCMA qualification is an asset).
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and ERP systems such as Dynamics AX.
- General knowledge of products and services in the oil and gas industry.
- Familiarity with safe work practices, Quality Assurance requirements, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
